Imagine having a conversation like this with a friend:
“Hey buddy! Thanks so much!”
“That 100 quid!”
“Ummm… what 100 quid?”
“The 100 quid you’re going to give me!”
“What, you need a loan?”
“Haha! No, not a loan, you’re just gonna give it to me!”
“Ehhh are you crazy? I can barely afford to splash out 100 quid on myself, let alone just give it away!”
Sounds about right, yeah? After all, it would be a bit presumptuous to just assume someone is just going to give you something for nothing.
Well here’s the good news – the Universe LOVES presumption!
Offering gratitude in advance for something that hasn’t even happened yet is the way the Law of Attraction works.
The Law Of Attraction In Action
Here’s a rather silly but everyday example. I am a big fan of wearing long tops over short leggings. Unfortunately my thighs are prone to the cursed “chub rub” (ladies, you know what I’m talking about) so wearing pretty little dresses in this tropical heat isn’t an option for me. Throw on a pair of leggings, though, and I’m good to go! And given the aforementioned heat, ankle length leggings are just ridiculous, so I wear the capri style.
The one pair I had with me are worn to shreds with holes forming all over the place. As idyllic as Koh Lanta is, it’s not exactly a shopping haven, so I was on the hunt for a new pair while I was in Malaysia. They’re a pretty basic staple so should be easy to find, right? Wrong! Everywhere I went I either found full length leggings galore, or the perfect capri length in teeny tiny sizes for teeny tiny girls. As my trip drew to a close I was starting to panic that I wouldn’t find any at all.
One day – actually the last shopping day I was allowing myself before giving up and stocking up on traveller pants instead – I came home from work, chanted nam myoho renge kyo for a few minutes, before saying out loud, “Thank you angels, for showing me to the perfect pair of leggings!” I smiled to myself because that week my connection to All-That-Is had been particularly strong, and I pretty much knew that the Universe would come through. That’s the real trick – knowing.
Heading out, I dropped in a bag of laundry to be washed, and chatted a little with the woman working there. I asked her if she knew where I could get some short leggings, and she suggested a bazaar I hadn’t come across yet, just down the road. And wouldn’t you know it, in two separate shops I found not one but TWO perfect pairs of leggings – one purple, one black. Both the perfect fit and the perfect price.
The rest of that shopping trip went just as smoothly as I had other tricky items I needed to find, but managed to secure them all.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Universe – or rather, my own attitude of gratitude – had a hand in this. When you summon up a genuine feeling of thanks in advance for whatever you want to come your way, the energy that you emit by doing so sets in motion a chain of events that will always, eventually, lead you to the right place at the right time to manifest your wish.
Sometimes that’s easier said than done, though, right? When you’re worrying that something isn’t going to come through, or panicking as time runs out, or simply sceptical about this whole mystical venture, you might try and say thanks in advance but your heart won’t be in it. Well, I heard a fantastic tip lately for getting into the right mindset for actually believing your own words of gratitude in wholehearted expectation for whatever you want.
Dee Wallace recently spoke on Tammy Mastroberte’s Living an Elevated Existence Mind, Body & Soul Summit, which is a free online event featuring a plethora of amazing speakers (it’s running until April 7th if you want to check it out!) Dee offered some really helpful advice for overcoming your limiting beliefs or doubt to make the Law of Attraction work for you. She suggested consciously turning your thoughts to something that really opens up your heart. Thinking about your child, or a beloved pet, or a time when you were at absolute peace like watching a beautiful sunset. Casting your mind to that memory, you start to feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This, when your heart is wide open with love, is the perfect time to beam out gratitude for whatever it is you are expecting to arrive, courtesy of the Universe. Say it out loud, even!
“Thank you, Universe, for helping me to find the perfect new job / house / puppy”
“Thank you, God, for fixing that problem I’ve been struggling with”
“Thank you, angels, for my continued health and happiness”
Side note: It really isn’t important who you directly address in your affirmation – all of these names I have used are basically the same thing, the same source energy that makes up you and everything around you. They don’t mind if you call them Universe, Allah, Bob, Sarah, whatever. You don’t even have to use a name; just say thank you, and the energy of All-That-Is will hear it and will immediately start the ball rolling.
3 Simple Steps
Try it for yourself, with something small at first just to see what happens – just follow these steps:
Step 1: Chant nam myoho renge kyo for a few minutes (click the link to find out how). You can replace this with whatever practice you prefer for calming your spirit or connecting with something bigger – chanting is what works for me!
Step 2: Open your heart by thinking of someone or something you love.
Step 3: Say a sincere thank you for whatever it is you wish for, in the understanding that it’s already on its way.
Then just go about your daily life! Keep your eyes and heart open, looking out for random signs or insights that will serve to lead you towards your heart’s desire. Once you start seeing results, your trust and faith in the forces of the Universe deepen, and the moments of doubt and frustration become more and more fleeting as your vibration is raised and your connection strengthened.
My own vibration has just been nudged up even higher with my delight in seeing today’s oh-so-apt Note From The Universe (courtesy of the amazing Mike Dooley) just as I was about to publish this very post! I think is the perfect message to sum up my own 🙂
You can have what you want, do what you dream, and brave what you fear… if you first see it done in your mind.
