Neale Donald Walsch’s Conversations With God<\/em> is one of my favourite books of all time, and one that\u00a0resonated deeply with me when I first started getting into all this spiritual malarkey.\u00a0The book is written as a dialogue between Walsch and “God”,\u00a0after Walsch claimed to hear a response to his desperate plea for answers during a low period in his life. I understand that it may\u00a0be a bit of stretch to ask you to believe that Walsch had an actual conversation with God (although for the record, yes I do believe it), but regardless, this book is full of beautiful insights and life lessons. This is a book I return to time and time again, and I wanted to share with you a\u00a0selection of my favourite nuggets of wisdom\u00a0within.<\/p>\n

1<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“All people are special<\/strong>, and all moments are golden<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

2<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“Mine is always your Highest Thought, your Clearest Word, your Grandest Feeling. Anything less is from another Source …\u00a0<\/i>Your Highest Thought is always that thought which contains joy<\/strong>. The Clearest Words are those words which contain truth<\/strong>. The Grandest Feeling is that feeling which you call love<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

3<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“You are goodness and mercy and compassion and understanding. You are peace and joy and light. You are forgiveness and patience, strength and courage, a helper in time of need, a comforter in time of sorrow, a healer in time of injury, a teacher in times of confusion. You are the deepest wisdom and the highest truth; the greatest peace and the grandest love. You are these things<\/strong>. And in moments of your life you have known<\/i> yourself as these things. Choose now to know yourself as these things always<\/i><\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

4<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“My teachers have all come with the same message. Not ‘I am holier than thou,’ but ‘You are as holy as am I<\/strong>.'”<\/span><\/h4>\n

5<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0“This is what your religions mean when they say that you were created in the ‘image and likeness of God’ … Our essence is the same. We are composed of the same stuff. We ARE the ‘same stuff’! With all the same properties and abilities – including the ability to create physical reality out of thin air<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

6<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“There are no victims in the universe, only creators<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

7<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“There is nothing you cannot be<\/strong>, there is nothing you cannot do<\/strong>. There is nothing you cannot have<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

8<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“What you resist persists<\/strong>. What you look at disappears<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

9<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“You will not have that for which you ask, nor can you have anything you want. This is because your very request is a statement of lack, and your saying you want a thing only works to produce that precise experience – wanting – in your reality. The correct prayer is therefore never a prayer of supplication, but a prayer of gratitude<\/strong>.<\/i> When you thank God in advance<\/i> for that which you choose to experience in your reality, you, in effect, acknowledge that it is there… in effect<\/i>. Thankfulness is thus the most powerful statement to God; an affirmation that even before you ask, I have answered. Therefore never supplicate. Appreciate<\/i><\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

10<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“The process of prayer becomes much easier when, rather than having to believe that God will always say “yes” to every request, one understands intuitively that the request itself is not necessary. Then the prayer is a prayer of thanksgiving. It is not a request at all, but a statement of gratitude for what is so<\/strong><\/i>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

11<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“Affirmations do not work if they are merely statements of what you want to be true. Affirmations work only when they are statements of something you already know<\/em> to be true<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

12<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“If, now, there is something you choose to experience in your life, do not ‘want’ it – choose<\/strong> it<\/em>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

13<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“The true renunciate does not renounce, but simply chooses differently<\/em>. This is an act of moving towards something<\/strong>, not away from something.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

14<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“Every human thought, and every human action, is based in either love or fear …\u00a0<\/span>Fear is the energy which contracts, closes down, draws in, runs, hides, hoards, harms. Love is the energy which expands, opens up, sends out, stays, reveals, shares, heals …\u00a0<\/span>Are you going to be in a place called fear, or in a place called love?<\/strong>“<\/span><\/h4>\n

15<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“The first thing to understand about the universe is that no condition is ‘good’ or ‘bad’. It just is<\/i>. So stop making value judgements.\u00a0<\/span>The second thing to know is that all conditions are temporary. Nothing stays the same, nothing remains static. Which<\/i> way a thing changes depends on you<\/strong><\/i>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

16<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“What’s happening is merely what’s happening. How you feel about it<\/strong> is another matter<\/i>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

17<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“Know and understand that there will be challenges and difficult times. Don’t try to avoid them. Welcome them. Gratefully… Seek to see no one, and nothing, as the enemy – or even the problem. Cultivate the technique of seeing all problems as opportunities<\/strong>. Opportunities to be, and decide, Who You Really Are.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

18<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“You get your life to ‘take off’ by first becoming very clear in your thinking about it. Think about what you want to be, do, and have<\/strong>. Think about it often until you are very clear about this. Then, when you are very clear, think about nothing else<\/i>. Imagine no other possibilities<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

19<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“‘I am’<\/strong> is the strongest creative statement in the universe. Whatever you think, whatever you say after the words ‘I am’ sets into motion those experiences, calls them forth, brings them to you.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

20<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“So go ahead now. Ask Me anything. Anything<\/i>. I will contrive to bring you the answer. The whole universe will I use to do this<\/strong>. So be on the lookout. This book is far from My only tool. You may ask a question, then put this book down<\/i>. But watch. Listen. The words in the next song you hear. The information in the next article you read. The story line of the next movie you watch. The chance utterance of the next person you meet. Or the whisper of the next river, the next ocean, the next breeze that caresses your ear – all these devices<\/i> are Mine; all these avenues are open to Me. I will speak to you if you listen<\/strong>. I will come to you if you invite Me<\/strong>. I will show you then that I have always<\/i> been there. All ways<\/i>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n

21<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0“Listen to Me in the truth of your soul<\/strong>. Listen to Me in the feelings of your heart<\/strong>. Listen to Me in the quiet of your mind<\/strong>.”<\/span><\/h4>\n
